May 20, 1989.) One of the original "Not Ready for Prime Time Players" of TV's "Saturday Night Live," this talented comedic actress studied drama at the University of Michigan before dropping out and moving to Toronto, where she made her stage debut in a 1972 production of "Godspell." A stint with the Second City comedy troupe ripened her comic skills and led to her casting on "SNL," where she created a gallery of funny and eccentric characters and won an Emmy Award for the 1977-78 season. Unlike her male colleagues she never had major movies fashioned for her talents (though 1980's Gilda Live captured her one-woman Broadway show). She met husband Gene Wilder when they were teamed in Hanky Panky (1982) and they subsequently appeared together in The Woman in Red (1984) and Haunted Honeymoon (1986). Shortly thereafter, Radner was diagnosed as having ovarian cancer, to which she succumbed in 1989, just before the publication of her autobiography "It's Always Something."OTHER FILMS INCLUDE: 1979: Mr. Mike's Mondo Video 1980: First Family 1982: It Came From Hollywood (as one of the oncamera hosts); 1985: Movers and Shakers Copyright ©1994 Leonard Maltin, used by arrangement with Signet, a division of Penguin Putnam, Inc.
